Last Night at the Rue Bayou features an original score inspired by the wide range of the New Orleans sound from traditional Jazz to R&B to Cajun, Zydeco, Blues, “Second Line” and the homegrown hip hop style, Bounce.
The songs draw from the bayou-soaked blues of Tony Joe White, the soulful mystique and Mardi Gras infused Dr. John, the emotional depth of the Neville Brothers, the Zydeco Two-Step style of Clifton Chenier and Rockin’ Dopsie and the Cajun fiddle romance of Beausoleil.
Martee LeBow has created an original score that both mythic, soul-stirring and “get up on your feet” danceable — shaped by history yet pulsing with modern emotional urgency. It has all the emotional weight and atmospheric power found in Louisiana-set classics such as Eve’s Bayou, Beasts of the Southern Wild, and the noir-infused vibe of True Blood.
